Sustainability Policy
Apex Displays Leicester Ltd (ADL) are committed to promoting sustainability. Concern for the environment and promoting a broader sustainability agenda are integral to ADL’s professional activities and the management of the organisation.
We aim to follow and to promote good sustainability practice, to reduce the environmental impacts of all our activities and to help our Customers and Suppliers alike to do the same.
Principles
Our Sustainability Policy is based upon the following principles: –
- To comply with and exceed, where practicable, all applicable legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- To integrate sustainability considerations into all our business decisions
- To ensure that all staff are fully aware of our Sustainability Policy and are committed to implementing and improving it
- To minimise the impact on sustainability of all office and transportation activities
- To make clients and suppliers aware of our Sustainability Policy and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable management practices
- To review and to strive to improve our sustainability performance
In order to put these principles into practice we will: –
Travel and meetings
- Walk, cycle and/or use public transport to attend meetings, site visits etc, apart from in circumstances where the alternatives are impractical and/or cost prohibitive
- Share transport if possible
- Where the only practical alternative is to fly, we will purchase appropriate offsets
- Avoid or reduce physically travelling to meetings etc where alternatives are available and practical, such as using teleconferencing or video conferencing, and efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips
- Reduce annual car mileage and purchase appropriate offsets for all staff business and personal mileage
- Replace company cars with more efficient models as they become due for replacement
Administration and Communication
- Minimise our use of paper and other office consumables, for example by reusing all paper used, and identifying opportunities to reduce waste.
- Purchase office paper produced from sustainable sources
- Issue documents electronically wherever possible
- As far as possible arrange for the reuse or recycling of office waste, including paper, computer and printer supplies and redundant equipment
- Reduce the energy consumption of office equipment by purchasing energy efficient equipment and by good housekeeping
- Wherever possible use rechargeable batteries
- Investigate the opportunity for energy generation from renewable resources
- Minimise office fuel and energy consumption
- Use office cleaning products certified for good environmental performance.
Purchase of goods from Supplier Chain
- Working in partnership with suppliers we aim to find products and services that are better aligned to the ‘value’ perceived by the end customer.
- Review the supplier chain
- Sustainability factors will be considered when choosing materials and alternative found where possible.
- Fair trade alternatives will be considered where applicable
- Discover / Investigate alternative products that last longer and require less maintenance issues long term
- Low energy / LED lighting to be considered on all projects
- To continually investigate and research new materials in order to drive down waste and environmental impact whilst achieving a more cost effective solution.
Working practices and advice to clients
- Working in partnership with clients we aim to find products and processes that are better aligned to the ‘value’ perceived by the end customer.
- Ensure that any associates we employ take account of sustainability issues in their advice to clients
- Provide a copy of our Sustainability Policy to our clients when requested
- Comply with relevant environmental legislation relating to ADL’s activities, products and services
Monitoring and reporting
Our Sustainability Policy will be monitored annually and reviewed by the Director. The Director will seek to continually improve environmental performance.
Organisation action and summary
Solar Panelling / Electricity Consumption | We are currently considering the installation of solar panelling onto the roof of our factory in order to reduce electricity consumption by our business |
LED Lighting | We are currently investigating the option of replacing the florescent lighting in our factory with LED or low energy alternatives. This document will be updated once action has been taken |
Stationery | We have moved towards using fully recyclable and recycled stationery products where available. |
Office Heating | We are currently Investigating options for replacement of existing office heating system This document will be updated once action has been taken |
Packaging | We have moved towards using fully recyclable and recycled packaging products for our business. |
Carbon Emission | Investigate measuring Carbon Emission for future performance monitoring. |
